Activities
Here
is a general list of activities held by our chapter throughout
the month. The actual activities vary each month, but
this should give you an idea of what we do! Activities
and meetings, with the exception of Mom's Night Out, are held
during the day and CHILDREN ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!
Monthly
Business Meeting:
Once
a month, we hold a business meeting to discuss and vote on
upcoming events and projects.
We usually have a discussion topic presented by one of
our members or a speaker from the community.
Recent topics have included water safety, preschool
anxiety, breastfeeding, potty training and sleep problems.
Park
Days:
Once
a week we meet at a local area park or pool.
It is a relaxed gathering where children of all ages
can attend. This
provides opportunities for kids of different ages to interact
and their moms a chance to mingle with other moms who might
have more experience or, perhaps need some advice.
Playgroups:
This is a great
opportunity once a week to get your child together with a
small group of kids his or her own age! Playgroups also offer
a great opportunity for moms to meet on a regular basis!
Field
Trips:
You
don't have to be in school to enjoy field trips! Each
month, we try to schedule a trip or tour to some place new or
an old favorite. Past field trips have included trips to
the zoo, farms, museums, tours of local businesses and more!
Other
Activities:
We
try to include activities on our calendar to meet the needs of
various ages of children.
These include such things as bowling or ice skating for
the older kids, crafts or story time for the younger ones, and
music and movement for the babies.
We meet for coffee once a month at a local coffee shop
where you can join in a little conversation with or without
your kids. Two or
three times a year we hold family activities for dads and
other family members to join the fun!
Meal
Support:
When
a member gives birth, adopts a new baby, or when an illness or
hardship comes to their family, many of our members offer to
provide the family with a meal in a way to offer support.
Mom's
Night Out:
As
much as we love our children, it is still nice to get out of
the house once a month and share a little
"moms-only" conversation! Past
activities have included going to the movies, plays, dinner at
restaurant or just getting together at one of our homes.
