Our Activities
Here is a general list of activities held by our chapter throughout the month. The actual activities vary each month, but this should give you an idea of what we do! Activities and meetings, with the exception of Mom's Night Out, are held during the day and CHILDREN ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!
Monthly Business Meeting:
Once a month, we hold a business meeting to discuss and vote on upcoming events. We often have a speaker from the community, presenting information on a wide range of topics of interest to our members. Recent topics have included breast cancer detection, drowning prevention, Feng Shui, estate planning, travel and many more!
Park Day:
Once a month we schedule a park day for our members. We meet at various parks within the area to give the kids a chance to play with each other and enjoy the fine weather. During the hot summer months, pool days and indoor activities are held instead of park days!
Field Trips and Daytime Activities:
You don't have to be in school to enjoy field trips! Each month, we try to schedule a trip or tour to some place new or an old favorite. Past field trips have included trips to FairyTale Brownies, the zoo, puppet theater, museums, tours of local businesses and more!
We also routinely hold events to celebrate holidays. These celebrations generally include crafts, games, and snacks for the kids. Our Mother's Day potluck has been popular in the past.
Playgroups:
This is a great opportunity to get your child together with a small group of kids his or her own age! Playgroups also offer a great opportunity for moms to meet on a regular basis!
Helping Hands Program:
Any time a mother needs a helping hand, our members combine efforts to provide their family with a full meal, child care, cleaning, grocery shopping or something else the family needs. Members are eligible for this extra support due to an illness in the family, a personal crisis, or the birth of a child.
Mom's Night Out:
As much as we love our children, it is still nice to get out of the house once a month and share a little "moms-only" conversation! Past activities have included going to the movies, plays, skating at the ice-skating rink, crafts and dinner at restaurants. Our annual Christmas dinner and ornament exchange is always a hit!
